What is a Pediatric Dentist?
To be a Pediatric Dentist, the dentist must have completed 6 to 7 years of training, which includes 4 years of dental school plus an additional 2 to 3 years of rigorous residency training in the specialty of pediatric dentistry. Pediatric Dentists learn special techniques to address the unique needs of children, including dental trauma and infections, and have extensive formal training in how to keep children as comfortable as possible during any treatment.
In contrast, General Dentists, including those who limit their practice to children or who practice as family dentists, completed 4 years of dental school training before starting their dental practice.

Dr. Jenny Jackson
Dr. Jackson's decision to open Asheville Pediatric Dentistry in 2007 stemmed from a love of children and wanting their dental experiences to be fun and easy.
Absolutely phenomenal experience. My 4 year old LOVES Dr. Jackson, the staff, and the office. He balled on the way home ...sobbing so much we couldnt understand him... because he wanted to go back to the dentist. Then he woke up the next morning saying the same thing. He had to have some very extensive work done and was in a lot of pain leading into the consultation. Dr. Jackson worked him in less than 24 hours (as a new patient!), then came in the day following his appointment to perform the procedure - which was her day OFF - to make sure he wasn't in pain for any longer. I never thought I'd not be anxious about bringing my kids to the dentist, but I'm actually looking forward to bringing our two year old next month!Colleen C. / August 2018
This is the most friendly and courteous place you could take your child. Dr. Jackson is the most comprehensive person with the best personality. She always explains everything that is done to my children in the sweetest manner. I love her and the staff. Absolutely would not go anywhere else.Patrick H. / April 2018
I have 2 sons that have been going to Dr. Jackson since we moved here 6 years ago. We have had such great care and treatment in her office. My kids are never scared to go to the dentist like I was when I was a child. Wow - how things have changed in this field. Dr. Jackson is so thorough and truly cares about the kids. Dr. Jackson and all of her staff are so welcoming and personal.Rebekka S. / February 2018
Our son Kyle tripped and fell on a gravel driveway and shattered his front tooth. He is 22 months old. The Dentist and the assistants did a great job helping keep him calm while evaluating and removing the pieces of tooth. They sung the Abc's to him and had tv's mounted on the ceiling. I live in Florida so I do not use them as a regular Dentist. But if I lived closer I would definitely use this Dentist for both of my children.Kyle W. / December 2017
Let’s get to know each other.
Your child’s first visit is not only about our team getting to know them, but also about you getting to know our team. In the time we spend together, we encourage you and your child to ask questions, express any concerns, and share with us anything you want us to know to help make your little one’s care as individual as they are.
One of the ways our doctor accomplishes natural smiles is by keeping as much natural tooth structure as possible. With their conservative approach, your child will only receive necessary treatment on the teeth needed. The end result is beautiful and natural!
One of our special services includes Frenectomies. This procedure allows for the lip or tongue to regain full range of motion, improving nursing and bonding with your child and preventing speech issues.
It can be stressful to find out that your child needs a crown. Fortunately we now have zirconia crowns for children that are state-of-the-art, free of metal, and all white. They look so natural, sometimes even we have to double check our charts to see where we’ve placed them.
Keeping your child’s comfort in mind, we also offer all our services in modern treatment rooms with TVs on the ceiling, private treatment rooms with parent seating, and dimmed lighting for optimal patient experience.

We encourage active participation by parents and love that they can see how gentle and caring we are with their child. Parents can be present during their children’s visits, even restorative appointments, so they can offer support and comfort to their child.
